Alarm Clocks

There you go…just let that dream job slip away… the reason? You came in late for the interview. Then you think of thousands of trivial reasons why you were late. It’s must be the rain…the train… the last minute change of wardrobe…that breakfast which you shouldn’t have taken…Yeah, yeah, why don’t you just admit it. You overslept!

It’s true; some of us have this thing called biological clock that wakes us up just in time to start the day. Unfortunately some just don’t, and for these unlucky folks, waking up in the early hours is a struggle. Good thing, modern technology gave birth to one very expedient thing called alarm clocks.

In the early days, we learned how our ancestors kept track of the time. They basically relied on the sun to determine whether its time to get up and to retire. Sundials were eventually developed to establish accuracy in time telling. Patterned after the sundials, mechanical clocks were then made and up to this day and age, innovations were still in order.

But perhaps one of the best advancement made and the most practical too for modern man is the creation of the alarm clock. Probably driven by necessity, as Time becomes more and more priceless, man looked for ways to ascertain that they wouldn’t miss out on very important events of the day. Alarm clocks became an unlikely ally. Why do I say unlikely? Well all of us probably experienced having been waken up by that distinct sound when we are just in the middle of a deep slumber and all we want to do is to grab that object and smash it with all our might and just go back to sleep. But we know that it’s just wishful thinking. At the end of the day, we have these tiny handy alarms to thank for.

Alarm clocks are universal and come in all types, shapes, colors, and sound quality. Some even have auxiliaries such as snooze, calendar, and time zone display. More modern versions have features components that could be switched into the local time of wherever you happen to be. How about that for convenience? These types are usually small and handy and are suited for travel purposes.

You can choose from assortments of alarm sounds such as the conventional ring or to a particular music tune, chime, buzzer, whistles, cuckoo, and bells and so on.

We also have alarms with radios in it. These are usually preferred by most as these alarm clocks wake them up to the tune of their favorite songs or to the sound of their favorite radio DJ’s. One delightful type is the talking clock. This will wake you up with a human voice telling you exactly what time it is and asking to get up. It also has a voiced temperature gauge, the ones you can trust on those freezing mornings.

Snooze buttons are integrated in most alarm clocks. These are for those who look for about 10-minute extension. You just have to press on it and it will ring up ten minutes later.
